Round table: «Human rights aspects of the Address of the Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan»

On September 10, 2021, a round table «Human rights aspects of the Address of the Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan» was held at Abai University. The organizers are the Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation, the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute of Abai KazNPU, the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), the National Volunteer Movement «Izgilik elshisi», project office «Almaty Adaldyk Alany».

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board-Rector of Abai KazNPU Darkhan Bilyalov, Chairman of the Human Rights Commission under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy Executive Director of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation Igor Rogov, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, member of the AIFC Academic Council Bakhytzhan Abdraim, First Deputy Head of the Agency for anti-corruption in Almaty Daniyar Taumurat, member of the National Council of Public Trust under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, director of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute, head of the project office «Almaty Adaldyk alany», head of the volunteer movement «Izgilik elshisi» Ainur Sabitova. Vice-Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Natalya Pan, Head of the Security and Law Enforcement Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexey Kalaychidi, and representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, legal clinic «Izgilik elshisi» of ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov, volunteers, as well as experts in the field of jurisprudence participated in online mode.

During the round table, the human rights aspects of the Address of the Head of State K. Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan «The unity of the people and systemic reforms are a solid basis for the country`s prosperity» were discussed, mechanisms for improving criminal procedural legislation, disseminating the service police model, strengthening the protection of human rights defenders, preventing crimes against children and preventing corruption were considered.

Darkhan Bilyalov, thanking the organizers, stressed the importance of implementing the instructions of the President of the country, including the improvement of the education and science system. These areas are important for the further development of our state and the provision of quality education, the protection of human rights, and the strengthening of national unity. For this, every citizen of Kazakhstan must take a responsible approach to the implementation of the tasks set in the Address. The Abai University team, being aware of their responsibility, plans to carry out systematic work in this direction.

Igor Rogov noted that the Constitution of our country clearly stipulates that Kazakhstan asserts itself as a democratic, legal, secular, social state, the highest values of which are a person, his life, rights and freedoms. A lot has been done in the republic for 30 years of independence. «I think it is obvious to everyone that the policy pursued by K. Tokayev is a continuation of the established vector of development by our First President», he said.

As the Head of State emphasized in his Address, the implementation of all the announced initiatives and strategic tasks will require joint efforts on the part of the state apparatus and society. In this regard, public dialogue will be developed at all levels, including with the active participation of young people - volunteers and students. Today their role has become more significant.

In turn, Ainur Sabitova spoke about the activities of the project «Izgilik Elshis», which helps to increase the activity of civil society, involving most of it - young people - in volunteering.

The participants of the event discussed topical issues of the further development of Kazakhstan, its economic prosperity and the improvement of the life of the people of the country.
