Advanced training courses on the topic "Fundamentals of typhlopedagogy" were held

From November 11 to December 14, 2024, at the request of the Department of Education of the Zhetysui region and the DARA Foundation, Abai KazNPU held advanced training courses on the topic "Fundamentals of Typhlopedagogy" (the author of the courses is PhD, associate professor Abayeva G.A., total - 144 hours). The courses were attended by special teachers from Zhetysui, North Kazakhstan, Dzhekazgan and other regions of our country.

Currently, there is an acute shortage of specialists in educational institutions in Kazakhstan who have the skills to work with children with profound visual impairments. Therefore, the course program was aimed at improving the professional competence of special teachers in the organization of educational and correctional and developmental support of educational processes for blind and visually impaired children.

The topics of the training course covered important issues of theory and practice of teaching and supporting visually impaired children. These are: typhlopedagogical examination and adaptation of standardized diagnostic techniques for working with children with visual impairments; updating the content of special education; conditions for the inclusion of a visually impaired child in the educational environment and the provision of individual and accessible support; the content and methodology of teaching literacy to the blind in Braille; typhlotechnical and alternative forms of educational materials for visual impairments; universal educational design, effective strategies for group work and others.

The educational process included various forms and methods of training that ensure the activity-based nature of professional development: lectures, elective lectures, trainings, practical work, master classes, and a round table. For a more practice-oriented training, practical teachers R.Shakanova, A.Abdekerim, A.Duisebekova, M. Makarushko, A. Vengelovskaya were invited. Researchers of Ph.D. N. A.Ersarina, T.Vishnevskaya, A.Kikbanova are also involved.

Some of the practical classes and trainings were held on the basis of the special school No. 4 for the blind and visually impaired in Almaty and the Republican Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired citizens.

Completing this course is an important step in the implementation of support for students with special educational needs, including children with visual impairments. The depth and relevance of the material presented by experienced lecturers allowed the course participants to significantly expand their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of special and inclusive education.
