Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression

On June 1, 2020, the senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education Sh.U. Sultankulova organized an educational event on the theme «It is impossible to predict the future, not knowing the past», dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions.

The educational event was attended by Ulzhalgas Dzholdybayeva , Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of History of Kazakhstan, Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almas Naimanbayev , Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs, Master, Senior Lecturer, Erlan Kasenov , the deputy director for educational work of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education and 1st year students of the specialty «6M011900 - Foreign language: two foreign languages».

During the educational event, students got acquainted with the latest information provided by the candidate of historical sciences about the beginning of political repressions in Kazakhstan in mid-1928 with the arrest of Alash intellectuals, watched excerpts from the film Zulmat, released in recent years.

In her final address to students, U.M. Dzholdybayeva emphasized how important it is for the new generation to preserve the memory of the tragic pages of history. Understanding the past is necessary for building the future. The educational event was ended with the poem by the 104 group student Adil Zhansaya, «Zulmat».
