Recruiting foreign students:
exchange of experience with representatives of universities in Almaty


On April 30, 2019 in according to Abai University`s plan of activities for the implementation of the conceptual foundations of the program «Roukhani zhanguiru» for 2018-2019 and the Roadmap of the of the Faculty for Foreign Citizens and Pre-university Training (Foundation), the Department of Philological Specialties for Foreign Citizens the first time organized a friendly round-table meeting with representatives of universities in Almaty. The purpose of the event was to discuss issues of coordinating work with foreign students and recruiting foreign citizens for training.

 

Head of Department Professor Saule Begaliyeva in her welcoming speech told about the «Strategic Development Plan of Abai University for 2018-2025», about the special international status of the department, the main directions of its activity.

 

Saule Isaliyeva, Specialist of the Department of International Cooperation of Abai University, during her speech focused on the need for timely registration of foreign students upon arrival in the Republic of Kazakhstan and procedures for obtaining a multiple-entry student visa.

 

Toghzan Aytkazina, PhD Ass. Professor Moderator of the meeting, talked about new opportunities for cooperation and improvement of joint work to attract foreign students.

 

Representatives of universities made several proposals regarding training and solving general coordination issues. Lyudmila Torokhtiy, Associate Professor of the Department of Language and General Education for Foreigners of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, drew attention to the importance and prospects for the development of coordination activities of educational, scientific and educational activities for foreign students. Kuanysh Karibayev,the Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Kazakh State Medical University named after S. D. Asfendiyarov, spoke about the importance of working together with international recruiting agencies and the prospects for opening their own centers abroad.

 

In the meeting directions of joint work were discussed, an agreement on cooperation in the exchange of information was developed, on ways to improve work with a foreign contingent of students, and prospects for creating an intercollegiate international club were considered.
