“Poetry ‒ the Heart of the World”


Outstanding Kazakh poet, translator, laureate of the Abai State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, holder of the orders "Parasat", "Kurmet" Galym Zhailybay and senior lecturer of the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Abai KazNPU, writer, playwright, literary critic, alashologist, head of the project "Zhas Galym" (Young scientist) (2025-2027), scholarship holder of the akim of Almaty, holder of the "Golden leopard" badge established by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Alibek Baybol was awarded the Shota Rustaveli gold medal at the international literary festival Poetry ‒ the Heart of the World in Georgia.


The Galym Zhailybai Prize was awarded for a collection of poems published in translation by the Chairman of the Union of Writers of Georgia, laureate of the Shota Rustaveli State Prize of Georgia, poetess Makvala Gonashvili and the establishment of literary and cultural ties between the two countries, and Alibek Baybol for the book "Tiflis. Writer. Fate" (miniature-chronological essays on the literary and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Georgia, 1930-1938) as part of a joint project of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Writers` Union of Kazakhstan "RESEARCH WORKS OF KAZAKHSTANI WRITERS IN THE ARCHIVES OF THE CIS COUNTRIES".

 

On May 6, the presentation and creative evening of Galym Zhailybay`s poems was held at a high level at the House of Friendship in Tbilisi. Poets, writers, writers from Italy, Israel, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Germany and other countries took part in the international literary forum from May 5 to 10. In addition to Tbilisi, delegates visited such cities and historical places as Mtskheta, Kakheti, Kvareli, Tsinandali, Telavi, Rustavi. As well as the house-museum of the national poet of Armenia Hovhannes Tumanyan and the great romantic poet of Georgia, Lieutenant General of the Russian Imperial Army, statesman and public figure Alexander Chavchavadze, Manavi Castle, Kartli-Kakheti district, residence of the great king of Georgia, Irakli II. The festival was organized by the Chairman of the Union of Writers of Georgia, laureate of the State Prize of Georgia named after Shota Rustaveli Makvala Gonashvili and literary critic, festival coordinator, art manager Manana Gorgishvili.
