EdUHK Professor Sin Kuen-Fung Kenneth Conducted Masterclasses and Scientific Meetings on Inclusive Education and Psychology at Abai KazNPU

 

As part of the 2023-2029 Development Program of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, leading scholars from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) were invited to strengthen international academic cooperation.

One of the distinguished invited experts was Prof. Sin Kuen-fung (Kenneth), Professor at EdUHK and Executive Director of the Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education. His research focuses on inclusive education, special pedagogy, autism spectrum disorders, learning difficulties, and assistive technologies. For his contribution to innovative educational practices, he received the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance.

On November 18, 2025, Professor Sin Kuen-Fung Kenneth met with doctoral students of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology enrolled in the programs “8D03105 - Psychology” and “8D03117 - Clinical and Social Psychology”. During the meeting, he shared insights about teacher training for special education centers, presented his psychological research findings, and provided an overview of his published works and scientific projects.

Professor Sin also spoke about his extensive international academic experience:
- SDU University (Kazakhstan) 
- Consultant on Inclusive Education;
- University Brunei Darussalam (Brunei) 
- Visiting Professor;
- Department of Special Education (United Arab Emirates) 
- Visiting Professor;
- Hainan Special Education Lifelong Service Center (Hainan Normal University, China) 
-Research Supervisor.

Doctoral students expressed strong interest in the professor’s research areas and demonstrated enthusiasm for potential collaboration on joint projects and academic publications. Professor Sin confirmed his readiness to supervise and participate in collaborative research with doctoral students of Abai KazNPU.

During his visit, the professor delivered lectures within the following academic programs:
- “7М03118
- Health Psychology with Foundations of Psychotherapy”,
- “7М03122 - Clinical Psychology with Foundations of Psychotherapy” (course: “Disorders of Mental Development in Children and Adolescents”),
- “6В03111 -
Training Practical Psychologists” (course: “Ethics and Technologies of Psychological Counseling”).

Professor Sin also familiarized himself with the research potential of the department, current research projects, and the academic directions of master’s and doctoral students.

His visit marked an important milestone in strengthening the university’s international scientific collaboration. The meeting facilitated a valuable exchange of experience in inclusive education, special teacher training, child psychological development studies, and the integration of modern technological solutions into educational practice.

The professor’s lectures and discussions provided new scientific perspectives for young researchers, and his willingness to mentor joint projects opened promising avenues for long-term academic cooperation.

This visit highlights the successful implementation of Abai KazNPU’s strategic initiatives aimed at expanding global integration in psychology and education.
