Round table «World of Abai in translations»

On May 15, 2020, the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation Study of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education organized and held a round table «The World of Abai in Translations», dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the great poet.

The online work of this event was attended by teachers of Kazakhstani universities, well-known translators, employees of the public foundation, students, undergraduates specializing in Translation Study.

The reports were made by Professor of the Abai KazNPU Department of Oriental Philology and Translation Study Zhumabekova Aigul, Head of the Department of World Languages and International Relations of the Central Asian University Tusupova Alma, Associate Professor of the Al-Farabi KazNU Batyrkhan Bolatbek, associate professor of Central Asian University Akan Azamat, poet, translator Adibayev Marat, associate professor of the Al-Farabi KazNU, poet, translator Zhanabaev Kairat, manager of the «National Translation Bureau» Anar Kurmanzhankyzy and other participants. During the event, the issues of translating Abai`s works into Russian, English, Turkish, Persian, Chinese and other languages were discussed. An analysis was made of existing translations and the latest translations were announced, which are being prepared for publication this anniversary year.

The participants noted the special importance of holding a round table at the university, bearing the name of the great poet.
