Foresight session at the Winter School

On January 13, 2023 a foresight session was held as part of the Winter School «Strengthening the Potential of Teacher Education». It was attended by Rector of Abai KazNPU Darkhan Bilyalov, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Gulzhan Jarasova, Vice Rector for Social Development Shyngys Nurlanov, Head of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness Sheripidin Khamraev, members of the university talent pool, trainees of «Coaching in Education» course, employees of the Department of Digitalization of Education, Testing Centre, Deputy Directors of institutes, chairmen of Academic Committees of institutes, teachers of the Department of Informatics and Informatization of Education.

In his speech, Darkhan Bilyalov noted the priorities of higher education, the tasks before the university to train specialists in the field of digitalization of education and future teachers to carry out their professional activities in the context of digital technologies.

«The development strategy of Abai University for 2022-2025 sets a goal - it is to become a digital university. Creation of highly effective ecosystem of digital education, improvement of digital skills and competencies of future teachers, strengthening of cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of digitalization will allow to achieve new opportunities in training students, mastering of modern professional competencies with the support of the best national and international experience», he said.

During the foresight session the following questions were discussed: what aspects of Abai KazNPU require digitalization in the near future; how to make digital technology an effective tool for large group learning, as well as assessment, what new educational outcomes are needed, the necessary digital skills and values of the XXI century, a supportive digital ecological environment.

During the session participants divided into working groups identified and analysed problems on the given topic and proposed ways to solve them.

During the Winter School, programs on professional development and digital skills of the teaching staff were considered and will be used in their future work. The foresight session was very productive.
