Members of the Council of rectors of the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a joint meeting with Lithuanian colleagues

 

October 15, 2019 in Kaunas (Lithuania) at the end of the global «QS in conversation. Increasing recognition through international cooperation: mobility, recognition, branding» a joint meeting of members of the Council of Rectors of Kazakhstan universities and leaders of Lithuanian universities at the University of Vitovtas the Great took place.

 

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Kazakhstan, rector of ENU. L.N. Gumileva Erlan Sydykov, Chairman of the Council of Rectors of the Almaty Region, Rector of Abai KazNPU Takir Balykbayev, Heads of other universities in our country, as well as rectors of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Mykolas Römeris University, Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas University of Technology, Klaipeda University, Lithuanian University of Sports, Business University, etc.

 

Zoya Zaitseva, Regional Director of QS Quacquarelli Symonds, participated in a joint meeting of the rectors of Lithuanian and Kazakh universities.

 

During the meeting, the Kazakh-Lithuanian scientific partnership was considered as a promotion strategy in international rankings and a global tool that, concentrating on the system of indicators used, forms the policy of educational reality, cooperation in the field of joint work on scientific articles, the creation of a network university on the G-Global platform and community on this site. Much attention was paid to the exchange of researchers for closer cooperation, experience and joint development with the aim of submitting projects for grant funding, the idea of ​​creating joint educational consortia, cooperation at the PhD level, working on joint projects through Erasmus, conducting joint conferences, internships and summer schools.

 

Zoya Zaitseva proposed to introduce the idea of ​​Rector of KazNPU Takir Balykbayev on networking - synchronize with subject ratings.

 

It was also noted by the regional director that both Lithuanian and Kazakhstani universities are lagging behind in citation index and academic reputation, if taken in the context of world universities.

 

Summing up the work of the Council of Rectors of Universities, the moderator Yerlan Sydykov emphasized that the partnership between Kazakh and Lithuanian universities is reaching a truly business level.
