Meeting with the director general of Astana TV Channel, Kurmanbek Zhumagali

On November 29, 2019, at Abai KazNPU, a meeting was held with the director general of Astana TV channel, a well-known journalist, media manager and graduate of our university, Kurmanbek Zhumagali.

The purpose of the meeting dedicated to the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev is to establish ties between the university and the television channel for the development of the spiritual worldview of youth. As part of this task, the television channel will acquaint students and young teachers with the best works of the domestic and world media market.

At the beginning of the event, rector Takir Balykbayev and the head of the Astana TV channel, Kurmanbek Zhumagali, signed a memorandum of cooperation.

During the meeting, Kurmanbek Zhumagali held a master class for students of Abai KazNPU. The famous journalist shared his personal story and professional advice. He talked about the activities of the channel, about the difficult work of television journalists, especially those leading this or that program and, of course, creative self-realization.

Students were worried about the question - what should be a professional journalist? Kurmanbek Zhumagali expressed his opinion on this matter:

- A journalist should be an «accomplice» of the information. He must deeply study the information, improve it. In pursuit of the rating, you can`t distribute messages that violate the peace and tranquility of people. And for a journalist, it`s important in a few words to be able to accurately convey information so that it is understandable and interesting to everyone.

The speaker noted that one must be able to correctly perceive information, use different sources, and know the legal norms. Students received not only detailed answers from Kurmanbek Zhumagali, but also practical advice.

At the end of the meeting, a general photograph was taken as a keepsake.
