Members of the Dissertation Council were prominent scientists from Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan. During the work of the Council, 181 dissertations were defended, of which 87 were defended on the methodology of teaching mathematics, 35 on the methodology of teaching physics, 51 on the methodology of teaching chemistry, as well as 8 one-time defenses at the intersection of specialties (mathematics and computer science).
For many years, the Republican methodological seminar "Didactics of Higher and Secondary Schools" functioned at the Department, at which the problems of the system of both school and university pedagogical education were discussed, as well as a preliminary discussion of dissertations.
At the department in 2016-2017. The Council for the defense of dissertations for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the profile 6D010000 - "Education (mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, biology, geography)" worked for a year, and since 2018 the Council has been working on the profile 6D010000 - "Education (mathematics, physics)", the chairman of the Council is Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor A.E.
