«Universities of Kazakhstan in the international arena: improving competitiveness»


Traditionally, the international QS rating is based on six criteria: academic reputation, the ratio of faculty members and students, university reputation among employers, the citation index of scientific publications, the proportion of foreign students and the proportion of foreign teachers. However, the methodology of the rating is annually changed, and 2019 is not an exception. Foreign experts will tell about it.


February 12, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University together with the association «Council of Rectors of Almaty Region» will hold an international seminar «Universities of Kazakhstan in the international arena: improving competitiveness».


The purpose of the seminar is to promote increased opportunities for the participation of universities in Kazakhstan in the world rankings, which will enable the university to be included in the international educational environment, harmonize educational and research processes with international rules and standards in the field of education.

The key speaker at the seminar will be Zoya Zaitseva - Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asiaof QS Ltd (UK);invited speakers: Nurlan Kiyasov - Director of the Center for Online Education at EdCrunch University NRTU «MISA», Director of the Endowment Fund of NRTU «MISA» (Russia); Elena Chernyshkova - Head of Educational Practice at Stanton Chase (Russia).


Zoya Zaitseva, Regional Director, QS International Rating Organization, will make a presentation: «World University Rankings: Key Indicators, Data Collection and Presentation»; «Increasing university awareness: website optimization, participation in B2B and B2C events and interaction with the press». EdCrunch University, Director of the Online Education Center, Nurlan Kiyasov, Director of the Endowment Fund of NRTU «MISA», will cover the topic «trategic Leadership at the University: Creating Donation Funds and Alumni Participation»; «Challenges for the future of education». The head of educational practice at Stanton Chase will introduce the topic «Recruiting International Staff: The Role of University Reputation».

The target group is heads and representatives of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, directly involved in management, international activities and assessment of quality analysis in the field of higher education.
