We keep the memory of the war and its heroes


On January 27, 2022, the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Institute of Philology and Multilingual Education held an Evening of Remembrance «I was killed near Rzhev...» (A.T. Tvardovsky). The event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the start of the Rzhev battle. The event was organized jointly with the publishing house «Almatykitap baspasy» and the Specialized Lyceum № 165 in Almaty.


The guests of the meeting were welcomed by Tatiana Baryshnikova, Consul of the Consulate General of Russia in Almaty, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo.


Lyceum students prepared a speech about the historical events of the Great Patriotic War related to the battles near the city of Rzhev. A. Tvardovsky`s poems dedicated to these tragic events were recited.


Pupils and students listened with great interest to the speeches of the employees of Russian museums. Marina Kopaeva, head of the Rzhev branch of the Victory Museum (Russia), spoke about the offensive operations of the Soviet troops, about the bloody battles for 13 months, about the crucial importance of these battles for the further course of the war. The 100th and 101st rifle brigades formed in Kazakhstan took part in these battles.


Claudia Duryndina, Head of the Sector of the Historical Department, head of the Tvardovsky museum in Smolensk (Russia), spoke about the preservation of the memory of the war within the walls of the museum and about the military pages of the biography of the remarkable poet.


Saule Abisheva, head of the Department of Russian Language and Literature, demonstrated to the participants of the evening sections of a textbook on literature for Kazakh schoolchildren, where, among other poetic works about the war, A. Tvardovsky`s poem «I was killed near Rzhev» is presented.


The Russian participants of the meeting expressed words of admiration and gratitude to young connoisseurs of history and poetry from Kazakhstan. Special thanks were expressed to Marina Asylbekova, the initiator of cooperation with Russian museums, which has been carried out by the department for the second year.
