Webinar «The Tretyakov Gallery. Past, Present and Future»


On April 2, 2021, a Zoom webinar entitled «The Tretyakov Gallery. Past, Present and Future» was held online. The event was organised by Maria Derbisova, Acting Assistant Professor of Design at the Institute of Arts, Culture and Sport, who also acted as moderator.

 

The webinar was organised for students, undergraduates and teaching staff of the department as part of Science Month. Svetlana Kapyrina, Senior Researcher at the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow, Russia), took part in the event. She spoke in detail about the Tretyakov Gallery, the history of its creation, showed materials of the interiors of the halls and reported on how the museum functions under quarantine conditions. Slides on the subject were shown and restoration work was described in detail using examples of famous paintings. The researcher of the largest art gallery in the world answered all the questions asked, highlighting the questions received from the 1st year undergraduates as very interesting and relevant.

 

Professor Onal Abisheva asked a question about paintings by artists from Kazakhstan, in particular about Kanapi Telzhanov`s work «Zhamal», which is in the Tretyakov Gallery. Svetlana Kapyrina promised to give detailed information on this issue and send it to the organizer of the webinar.

 

The webinar with participation of the Tretyakov Gallery researcher was a very important and informative event for students, undergraduates and faculty of the department. They were acquainted with the masterpieces of painting of the second half of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century having the world importance by the presented photo-materials. All the more under quarantine conditions, when people cannot visit museums of other countries.
