The Secrets of Fashion Art: An Inspiring Meeting with Kyrgyz Designer Zalkar Askarali
On 11/24/2025, the Department of Design of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai organized a meeting with Kyrgyz designer Zalkar Askarali in accordance with the work plan of the Tumar fashion studio, which opened as part of the branch of the department of the Almaty College of Fashion and Service. The topic of the conversation is how fashion design is born, and he revealed this topic so sincerely and deeply that each of us felt the magic of creativity.
Zalkar shared the story of his brand: how it emerged, what doubts, discoveries, and ideas he went through. He spoke not just about fashion, but about the inner world of a creator and the importance of seeing not only the form, but also the meaning.
His collection "Iz," built around the idea of the human trace, was especially touching. He said:
"Every person wants to leave their mark. I am one of them. I want to leave mine through my creativity."
These words made a strong impression - they reminded us that creativity begins with the soul.
Zalkar showed that a designer is not just someone who sketches clothing. It is at once a director, a constructor, a technologist, and even a bit of a philosopher. Each collection must tell a story, convey an emotion, an idea, a message. Only then does clothing become alive, interesting, and meaningful for people.
Students actively asked questions. Everyone wanted to know:
- what fabrics he chooses for his collections;
- how comfortable his clothing is for everyday life;
- and what unique DNA he puts into his brand.
The meeting left a vivid impression and gave us new inspiration - to create, to explore, and to leave our own mark.
