KazNPU named after Abai leading in THE Impact Rankings 2023 global ranking for Central Asia and Kazakhstan

 

On June 1, 2023, the Times Higher Education published the results of THE Impact Ranking 2023 rating, assessing the socio-economic impact of educational institutions on involvement in the process of achieving global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), according to the results of which KazNPU named after Abai confidently led Kazakhstan, managing to maintain its leadership again for the second year.

 

In the overall ranking in the global impact rating, the university took the position of 601-800, consolidating last year`s result and generally improving the overall score from 57.3 to 59.8 against the background of an increase in the number of participants. If last year 1,410 universities participated in the ranking, this year there are 181 more - 1591 from 112 countries including 15 universities from Kazakhstan.

 

According to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings methodology, the overall score is formed from SDG 17 "Partnership for Sustainable Development" (up to 22% of the total score), as well as the three strongest of the other SDGs for which data were provided (each of which is up to 26% of the total score).

 

This year KazNPU named after Abai was ranked in all 17 SDGs, and 4 of them were included in the overall score:

SDG 5-Gender equality. Position: 201-300 out of 1081 universities, SDG score 60.5, 26% of the total ranking score. The indicator with the highest value is Share of female senior teachers 99.5%, the indicator with the lowest value is the proportion of female students in the first generation of 10.9%.

 

SDG 15 - Life on land. Position: 101-200 out of 568 universities, SDG score 60.5, 26% of the total ranking score. The indicator with the highest value is the Burial/disposal of waste sensitive to the ground 94.4%, the indicator with the lowest value is research in this area 10.8%.

 

SDG 16 - Peace, justice and effective institutions. Position: 401-600 out of 910 universities, SDG score 56.7, 26% of the total ranking score. The indicator with the highest value is the measures taken by the university management 84.7%, the indicator with the lowest value is Research in this area 14%.

 

SDG 17 - Partnership for Sustainable Development. Position: 801-1000 out of 1625 universities, SDG score 47.6, 22% of the total ranking score. The indicator with the highest value is the relationship to support the goals of 87.8%, the indicator with the lowest value is Research in this area of 26.1%.
