The Results of the International Comic Contest "An Educator in a Multicultural World"

On April 17, 2024, the results of the International Comic Contest "An Educator in a Multicultural World" were announced. This contest was organized by the Department for Primary Education of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Abai KazNPU in collaboration with Teachers Lab LLC. The competition ran from February 1 to March 31, aiming to identify talented comic authors who could interestingly and accessibly present the theme of pedagogy in a multicultural environment.

The jury meeting chaired by Asiya Yeleupanovna Zhumabayeva was marked by the evaluation of 16 submissions presented in three languages: eight in Kazakh, five in Russian, and three in English. Jury members, including Adlet Kariyev, Almash Turalbayeva and Mariyam Bekbaeva, assessed the works based on the stated criteria, which determined the winners in each language category.

Among the most notable entries, comics in Kazakh demonstrated a high level of execution and originality of approach, as evidenced by the equal score (33 points) of three participants who shared first place. In Russian, comics from Almaty State Humanities and Pedagogical College No. 2 stood out, as well as works by participants studying English, reflecting global pedagogical trends.

The contest results were approved by a general decision of the jury, and laureates were awarded diplomas of I, II, and III degrees depending on the points scored. All participants were also presented with certificates acknowledging their participation and contribution to the development of multicultural education through the art of comics.

The event highlighted the importance of creative approaches in education and demonstrated how art can serve as a bridge between cultures and generations, opening new horizons for pedagogical science and practice.
