Opening of the international youth seminar «Everyday Culture in International Exchange: Youth Fashion - Globalized and Textile-Artistic»

 

On 21 May 2018, the opening of the international youth seminar «Everyday Culture in International Exchange: Youth Fashion - Globalized and Textile and Artistic», dedicated to the launch of DAAD project «Dialogue East-West», in which participate the Higher Pedagogical School Freiburg (Germany), the Chechen State Pedagogical University (Russia) and Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Kazakhstan) was held at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.

 

The main goal of the seminar is to create conditions for an open dialogue about culture and fashion between native and foreign teachers and students of the East and West.

 

The opening ceremony of the international seminar was attended by the rector of the KazNPU Takir Balykbaev, the head of the DAAD Information Center Bartholomeus Minkowski, the head of the Department for International Cooperation and Strategy Johannes Lebfromm, the professor of the Fine Arts Institute of the Freiburg High School of Education Anna Maria Grundmayer and Ulrike Weiss, the head of the Chechen Cultural Center «Vainakh» of the Almaty region Adam Boyzaev, head of the Center for Professional Orientation Nazarbayev intellectual school of the chemical -biological field of the city of Almaty Saltanat Darimbetova, faculty members and a group of students of the Higher School of Education Freiburg, Chechen State Pedagogical University and Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Almaty pupils of Nazarbayev Intellectual School.

 

Opening the event, rector Takir Balykbayev expressed his greetings to the participants of the youth seminar. The rector also stressed that the main participants of the project - future teachers - will be able to transfer their aesthetic and intercultural skills to their students in the future. Fashion as a universal cultural code, uniting the youth of different countries, promotes interpenetration of cultures, rapprochement of peoples and development of intercultural communications. On the first day of the seminar an excursion to the University was organized for the guests.

 

In a two-week seminar, participants will have the opportunity to jointly explore fashion as a social and aesthetic practice. Students from the three countries will work in mixed groups. The main issue that will be discussed at the seminar is related to how a typical local youth fashion manifests itself in a different culture. In addition, the workshop participants will be able to exchange what clothes they wear, in what situations and how cultural and national differences manifest themselves. Then they will work on drawings and collages and combine their ideas in collections of clothes.

 

International Youth Seminar «Everyday Culture in International Exchange: Youth Fashion - Globalized and Textile and Artistic» will continue until May 31, 2018.
