"Mythical CODE" Exhibition Held: A New Interpretation of Kazakh Mythology through Linocut, Lithography, and Etching

On January 28 at 3:00 PM, the Faculty of Arts of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University held the "Mythical CODE" exhibition at Zhasampaz Gallery (64A Sh. Ualikhanov St.), featuring student works in linocut, lithography, and etching.

The exhibition was organized within the framework of the research project AP25796905: "Modifying Kazakh Mythology and Printmaking in Art Education through the Design Thinking Method." The project approach positioned student artworks not only as final outcomes, but as results of a structured educational process-research, ideation, prototyping, printing, and reflection.

The exhibition showcased:
• contemporary interpretations of Kazakh mythological symbols and cultural codes translated into printmaking language;
• series-based visual narratives where concepts evolve through iterative refinement;
• the distinct expressive potential of each technique: the clarity and contrast of linocut, the tonal plasticity of lithography, and the textural depth of etching.

During the event, guests engaged with the exhibited works, exchanged perspectives with student authors, and highlighted the role of printmaking in developing visual literacy, compositional discipline, and analytical artistic thinking.
