Rockartcentralasia.com Presentation Held at the Faculty of Arts of Abai KazNPU

On January 26 at 4:00 PM, the Faculty of Arts of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (64A Ualikhanov St., Main Building, Room 7) hosted a presentation of rockartcentralasia.com, a regional online platform dedicated to the rock art (petroglyph heritage) of Central Asia.

The event was organized with the participation of the Aigine Cultural Research Center (Bishkek), a UNESCO-accredited non-governmental organization. During the presentation, participants were introduced to the platform`s key features, which bring together materials on 91 petroglyph complexes across five countries of the region: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Particular attention was given to the project`s broader cultural context-highlighting how ancient rock art is connected to the worldview, collective memory, and traditions of our ancestors, as well as to contemporary artistic practices inspired by petroglyphs.

The meeting brought together faculty members, master`s students, and doctoral candidates. The presentation served as a practical forum for discussing approaches to interpreting ancient visual imagery and for exploring ways to актуализация (make relevant) these images within contemporary humanities and arts discourse.
Aigine research team: Shynar Seidakhmatova, Meerim Aitkeeva, and Aiza Abdrakhnova.

The Faculty of Arts expresses its sincere appreciation for the organization and coordination of the event to:
- Zhanerke Nauryzbayevna Shaigozova, Professor of the Department of Art Education, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences;
- Laura Sharipovna Kakimova, Professor of the Department of Music Education and Choreography.
