Research Internship of Abai KazNPU Faculty Members at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University

 From December 15 to 20, 2025, faculty members of the Department of Primary Education of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University – Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor A.Kh. Arenova, and PhD, Acting Associate Professor A. Zhunusbekova – completed a research internship at Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (Baku) as part of the research project «Conceptual Study of Ethical Risks in the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Secondary Education». The project is funded by Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Order No. 05-04/250 dated April 3, 2025).

During the internship, official meetings were held with the leadership of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, as well as with the heads of the departments Primary Education and Methods of Teaching Mathematics. The participants discussed approaches to teacher training, educational programs, and prospects for academic and research cooperation between Abai KazNPU and Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University. Special attention was given to the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence into teacher education.

A scientific and methodological seminar was conducted for the faculty members of the Department of Primary Education at ASPU, focusing on the ethical risks of using artificial intelligence in secondary education. The seminar addressed issues related to the application of AI in educational practice, academic ethics, and the preparation and implementation of research projects. An exchange of experience took place regarding the training of future primary school teachers in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

As part of the internship, Professor A.Kh. Arenova and PhD, Acting Associate Professor A. Zhunusbekova delivered lectures for first-year students majoring in Primary Education, devoted to the application of artificial intelligence in secondary education and the ethical aspects of its use. In addition, the visiting scholars attended lectures delivered by ASPU faculty, which allowed them to become familiar with teaching methods and the organization of the educational process at the host university.

A significant stage of the internship was a meeting with ASPU Rector J. Jafarov and Vice-Rector for International Relations, Professor M. Huseynova, during which prospects for further cooperation were discussed. These included joint research projects, expansion of academic mobility programs, organization of international academic events, and the development of dual-degree programs.

In addition, faculty members of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University participated in the International Scientific Conference «Science in the System of Higher Pedagogical Education: Realities and Prospects», held at the Nakhchivan Teachers’ Institute (Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan). Within the framework of the conference, the research paper «Ethical Aspects of Implementing Artificial Intelligence in the Education System» was presented.

The completed research internship contributed to the enhancement of the participants’ scientific and professional competencies, strengthened international academic ties, and promoted further cooperation between universities in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
