Dual Teacher Training Model: Collaboration of the Department, College and Schools within the “Methodfest”
Today, February 26, 2026, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University hosted the educational and methodological Open Day “Methodfest” as part of the project “One Day – One Faculty,” organized by the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology. The faculty demonstrated its academic and professional potential, while the event provided a unified platform to showcase students’ practical initiatives and research achievements. Within the festival, the Department of Primary Education presented the outcomes of dual training, scientific and methodological developments, and models of cooperation with partner institutions. The central event was a dual workshop implemented through the collaboration of the Department of Primary Education, the Municipal Scientific and Methodological Center for New Technologies in Education, Almaty Kazakh Humanitarian Pedagogical College No. 1, Prometheus School, and New Generation School NGS. This format enabled the integration of school, college, and university resources within a unified educational ecosystem. The professional dialogue featured the Director of New Generation School NGS, A.Yu. Khrabrykh, mentors from partner schools, college and university faculty members, as well as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs B.M. Narbekova. The discussion highlighted key directions for developing the dual model, the role of schools as stakeholders and employers, and mechanisms of mentoring support for students. Second- and fourth-year students enrolled in the dual education program presented their professional trajectories—from initial classroom observations to independent teaching and diploma project development. In an interview and open discussion format, participants addressed issues of professional adaptation, responsibility, and the development of methodological autonomy. Throughout the day, a photo and video gallery displayed authentic lesson fragments, mentoring sessions, and stages of students’ professional growth. A dedicated exhibition showcased original didactic materials, lesson design frameworks, formative assessment tools, and digital educational resources. “Methodfest” demonstrated that the collaboration between the Department of Primary Education, the college, and partner schools establishes a sustainable teacher training model grounded in the integration of theory, practice, and research.
