Baitursyn Eszhanovich Umorbekov is a famous statesman and public figure, honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, honored worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, professor. In 1965-1969 he studied at the Abai State University at the Faculty of Art and Graphics. In 1969-1978 he worked in his native university as an assistant, senior lecturer, dean of the faculty. For a long time, he headed the leading cultural institution of Kazakhstan - the State Museum of Arts named after A. Kasteev, was elected chairman of the Union of Artists of the Republic, has state awards.

B.E.Umorbekov was at the origins of the development of higher art education in the country, in particular, the creation of the Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenev, where for many years he led an active organizational and teaching activity. He is the initiator of the opening of the graphic design department and the introduction of the foundations of the profession of an artist-restorer in the training program of the Academy, which was carried out in Kazakhstan for the first time. Author of several scientific papers.
